The Secretary General of the FLN party Amar Saadani, said in Algiers that the next constitution would give more prerogatives to elected assemblies, the Executive branch and the country’s political opposition.

“These powers would end problems between institutions,” said Mr. Saadani who presided over the voting operations for the renewal of his party‘s presence in the National Popular Assembly (APN) structures.

In this context, Mr. Saadani recalled that his party had proposed “not to submit the draft of the new constitution to a referendum and only to be presented for adoption at both houses of Parliament”.

The vote for the renewal of the structures of the FLN in national people’s assembly concerned  the posts of Vice-Chairmen of the Assembly,(31 candidates), theChairmen of the standing committees with 33(candidates, Vice-Chairmen of Standing Committees (18 candidates) and Assembly’s Rapporteurs (17 candidates).

According to the outcome of the polls, the number of wealthy militants of the FLN party elected to these parliamentary posts has witnessed a marked decrease.
