Returnees from troubled Libya vent their grievances to President Bouteflika

Tens of hapless Algerian families who have recently fled strife-torn Libya converged on Sunday on the Presidency of the Republic in upper Algiers with the aim of venting their disappointment at the authorities' failure to deal with their pressing concerns in the aftermath of their helter-skelter departure from troubled Libya where all their properties and possessions were seized or stolen by Gadhafi's henchmen.

  • They gathered outside the premises of the Presidency of the Republic for several hours in order to alert the head of state Mr Abdellaziz Bouteflika himself to their dire situation hoping that the latter would take the necessary steps to make them recover their lost possessions or to get compensated accordingly.

  • The Algerian returnees from troubled Libya said that their concerns and complaints to the authorities concerned had so far remained unheeded despite their repeated expostulations since their arrival in Algeria.

  •
  • That’s why, they wanted to refer their pressing grievances to the President of the Republic himself, in the hope of seeing their problems settled by leaps and bounds as they are now in dire straits, they lamented in statements to the press.
