The Financial Draft Act 2018 allocated 20 percent of fines paid of Algerians due to traffic code infraction to fund road security national policy. Drivers will not obtain vehicles insurance, technical control cards and car registration document until they pay road code infraction-related fines.

Director of the National Centre of Roads Security Ahmed Nait Hocine Monday said the interior ministry proposed to allocate 20 percent of road code infraction-related fines to fund traffic security national policy.

“This new procedure is part of the diversification of modernization projects including an automated system. A total of 20 percent of fines will be sufficient to fund Road Security Fund and road prevention national policies,” he told Echorouk.

“The fines will be included in a data base which can be checked by many road security-related institutions and administrations,” he added.

Drivers who did not respect road code and did not pay fines can not get cars insurance, technical control and registration documents. They also can not sell their cars.

Asked about the management of the computer system and the detection of road code infractions, Nait Hocine said a new generation of fixed radars will be in charge of the procedures.

“Any road code infraction will be detected and an infraction document will be sent to the driver’s address,” he said.
