Russia’s ambassador to Algiers said Russian companies are ready to work in Algeria in conformity to new partnership rules determined by the government.

“Russian government or its public and private companies have never commented legislations of any country they work with. They prefer to adapt to those rules,” said the ambassador.
“About 70 Russian companies are expected to attend the forthcoming Algerian Russian business forum. About 150 Russian businessmen from around 25 industrial sectors will be present,” he added.
The forum will be organised as part of an official visit due to be paid by Russian President Dmitry Medvedev to Algeria on October 6-8th. It will be sponsored by Russia’s industrial commercial chamber, the Algerian chamber for commerce and industry, the Arab Russian business council and the Algerian Russsian business council.
The forum will study the system to enter the Algerian market, types of participations in calls for tender and its lists and dates.
Algerian representative in the Algerian Russian business council Tayeb Zeraimi said this step is part of enhancing bilateral relations as they used to be. “It is also part of benefiting from expertise in workers’ sector in Algeria and Russia due to the resemblance between their economies.”
“It will also enable to reinforce cooperation in sectors where Algerian and Russian companies have high experiences. We will also work on the strong participation of Russian enterprises in public investment projects launched by the government for the next five-year plan.”
In 2009, trade exchange between Algeria and Russia was estimated at $2 billion including $1.5 billion in weapons purchasing.
