Russia Is Algeria's First Arms Supplier

Russia ranked on top of the list of the suppliers of African continent with armament, as the list includes the United States, France and China.

Algeria is the first customer of Russian arms, as reported by the “Jeune Afrique” magazine in its latest number.

Jeune Afrique Magazine spoke about the recent deal that was signed in Moscow with Algeria during last spring, which included the acquisition of a submarine and 46 war helicopters, between 12 and 24 planes and helicopters for transport, and tanks of the type “T-90”, as the number is expected to reach 500 tanks.

Same magazine’s website said that in the context of the modernization of the old gear and the elements of the air system, the size of the acquisition of Russian arms in the African continent increased by $ 5 billion, as negotiations continue for the acquisition of 44 planes of the type Sukhoi 32, 44 and 35, and 400 batteries for air shells, as Egypt has also led the first step in 2015 through demanding “MiG-29” missiles, air defense system Antey 2500 and “Buk” and 46 helicopters.
