Saadani: the Belkhadem issue is non-event

Secretary General of Algeria’s National Liberation Front (FLN) Amar Saadani said he is for Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika’s decision to exclude the party’s former leader Abdelaziz Belkhadem.

“Bouteflika dismissed Belkhadem from cabinet. His exclusion from the FLN will be according to the party’s rules and regulations,” said Saadani.

“The FLN stands by the President’s side in all its decisions,” he added.

This comes as the Algerian Press Agency (APS) reported that Belkhadem was dismissed and measures will be taken to exclude him from the FLN. Yet, Saadani did not talk about that at all.

He considered the issue as a “non-event,” saying Belkhadem is no more than a central committee member.
