Sahel countries due to boost regional cooperation
Chief of Staff of the National Popular Army (ANP) Lieutenant General Ahmed Salah Gaid said in Bamako regional cooperation is the only way to ensure stability in the African sub-region of Sahel, a statement from the Ministry of National Defence said Saturday.
- “No country in Sahel can work alone, because the stability of the sub-region is closely linked to regional cooperation to counter threats wherever they come from,” Lieutenant General Gaid Salah said at the extraordinary meeting of these countries chiefs of staff council, held Friday in Bamako, devoted to examining the situation.
- “More than ever before, time is for cooperation, mutual assistance and joint efforts to fight terrorism and curb the risk factor, subversion and instability in order to save our countries from harmful consequences arising from,” Army Chief of Staff said.
