Saudi Arabia in a new round to restore its relation with Algeria
Saudi Arabia started « restoring » its relations with Algeria as they have been frozen for a long time due to positions towards regional issues.
Riyadh tries to “warm up” its relations with Algiers through meetings held between officials from both countries in the weekend. Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika met Prince Mohamed Bennayef Ben Abdelaziz.
Saudi News Agency reported that the meeting was about events in the Arab, Muslim and International scenes as well as bilateral cooperation.
Saudi Arabia’s new ambassador Sami Abdallah met with Arab Countries General Director at the Algerian foreign ministry Abdelhamid Zehani. They talked about ways to reinforce cooperation and coordination between the two countries, according to the same source.
Earlier, President Bouteflika did not receive Saudi foreign minister Adel Djbir on his visit to Algeria last year.
