Security: 5000 policemen and Labradors to secure the New Year celebration in Algiers
Algerian National Gendarmerie deploys more than 5000 security agents in Algiers in anticipation to the New Year celebrations, with more focus on the western side of the capital.
Security services also deploy a number of “Labrador” dogs and technical devices to detect any explosives or drugs, including Laptops to arrest wanted persons and stolen cars.
According to the Head of Police, communication and public relations of Algiers, Samir Khawa, a security plan to lift the number of patrols and check points is adopted to insure safety and security of citizens in public areas where people celebrate the end of the year.
In this context, Echorouk Newspaper accompanied security services during their raids in Algiers where places of prostitution and illegal sell of alcoholics. Many people were arrested while selling drugs and hallucinates type “Rivotril”.
Security raids resulted in the arrest of 34 people 958 people suspects, on charges of implication in various crimes, 881 vehicles detected, and 315 people checked, while 14 were arrested because of the possession of prohibited knives and consumption of drugs.
