Security Services Foil A Terrorist Plot That Targets Echorouk Newspaper
Criminal Court of Bouira (Eastern Algeria) sentenced, on Sunday, three defendants with three years of prison, on charges communicating with terrorist organizations abroad, including ISIS, in order to offer carrying out terrorist operations in Algeria, the felony of trying to participate in terrorist acts, praising and encouraging terrorism, and the attempt to join a terrorist organization abroad.
Facts of the case which was addressed by the Criminal Court, is dating back to January 2016, after the decision of referral to the Chamber of charges, after the arrest of the defendants “L.Z” 20, “H.Kh” 22, from Blida, who were traced by cyber crime security services through social networks, especially Facebook, to be sure that they communicate with networks that are linked to terrorist organizations abroad, like ISIS and Tunisian terrorist groups.
Investigations showed that the suspects offer carrying out terrorist operations inside the national territory, including the bombing of the embassies of America and France, the headquarters of Echorouk newspaper and other national newspapers, but security services were able to identify the third suspect, during the interrogation, who lives in Ain Bassam (Bouira), called “B.S” 22, and who is nicknamed “Addai Ila Allah”, who was active in social networks before his arrest, and who had contacts with the two other accused and the same terrorist cells abroad to implement criminal operations.
During the trial, the three defendants tried to deny the charges against them, but the scientific evidence and security investigations confirmed their involvement in the attempt of joining terrorist organizations abroad and praising terrorist acts, then the prosecution sought prison sentence in force for 20 years, before the deliberation in the case and the verdict of jail in force for a period of three years with a fine of 50 million for each defendant.
