Algerian Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal Wednesday said President Abdelaziz Bouteflika will remain in power and he “will not go” as a clear sign that he will run for a fourth term.

Sellal’s remarks comes as the Secretary General of Algeria’s FLN party Amar Saadani described him as “bad player” when it is about politics. The Prime Minister seized the opportunity of his inspection visit to the province of Adrar (south of Algiers) to address a “political message” about the possible post-Boutelika era.

Asked about the future of Zawias (traditional school) after Bouteflika leaves power, Sellal told a meeting with civil society that the president will not go neither will the Zawias.

“There is no different between the north and the south, the east and the west neither between Arabs and Amazighs. We are all Algerians because we still feel the pain of colonizers. We celebrated the 59th anniversary of the Revolution Day on Friday,” he said.

“Algerians were hit by instability and they are not ready for adventure because they want to live in peace and reject injustice and marginalization,” he added.

Speaking about balance between the north and the south, Sellal said the government took exceptional measures to boost development in southern Algeria. “It’s time to assess the implementation of the measures. I was assigned by President Bouteflika and I pledged that the south will have its rights.”

Speaking about Algeria’s future, he said the country is on the right way and current stability brought positive results on all the levels. “This stability will lead to economic development.”
