Serbian Antic Offers His Services To The FAF

Serbian coach Radomir Antic has filled his application to the Algerian Football Federation (FAF) in bid to be taken on to coach the national team, the Algerian Radio channel said on Wednesday.

Previousely, a statement on the federation’s website has revealed that a shortlist of 43 coaches has been whittled down to five.

Echorouk sources revealed that former Ivory Coast coach Vahid Halilhodzic, ex-Brazil boss Carlos Dunga, Germany former ace Jurgen Klinsmann, former Argentina coach Jose Peckerman, and French coach Philippe Troussier are all on the shortlist.

Antic has managed FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Atlético Madrid, in addition to the Serbian national team (2008-2010).

FAF specified that it will consider any applications received before the 20 June deadline.

The new coach of the Desert Foxes is to be revealed on 21 June, during the meeting of the executive bureau of the FAF.

The FAF is looking to replace Abdelhak Benchikha, who stepped down after this month’s 4-0 loss to Morocco in a 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

The Greens hope to have a new coach in place by the time they travel to face Tanzania for their next Nations Cup qualifier in September.

The loss to Morocco left the Desert Foxes bottom of Group D.
