It is permissible to Algerian players to take Iftar if they’ll play 2nd round World Cup matches, Committee of Muftis’ Chairman at the Islamic Supreme Council, Sheikh Mohammad Sharif Kaher, told Echorouk on Monday.

Professor Youcef Ayadi warned of the laxity in performing the Taraweeh prayers or “invalidate the reward of fasting” by delving frequently in empty discussions about the World Cup.
“Iftar is permissible when playing, in addition to that some schools go to say that the traveler can be judged according to the provisions of travel to return to his/her country, which is contrary to al-Maliki doctrine, which defines the terms that the traveler takes in four days, but it only makes doors for the topic and exits to allow them to take Iftar when playing, reminding that the religion of Allah aims to ease things, and such football matches serve the country’s standing, as the patriotism come from faith. Players should show the intention of fasting.”
However, he justified his fatwa with “fatigue and necessity”, saying that he addresses only players and not supporters who accompanied the team to Brazil, as the matter remains for them related to the ability to roll the intention of fasting, but if there will be fear of damage to prevent the completion of the fasting day.
