Secretary General of Algeria’s Central Union Abdelmadjid Sidi Said prevented members of the National Commission for Recovering the Algerian Workers’ General Union from entering the “People’s House.”
This comes as the commission’s members signed petitions to topple Sidi Said alleging that he “violated the Union’s rules and regulations.”
Sidi Said’s opponents started the petitions as the Union’s 12th conference is expected to be held by the end of December.
The commission’s coordinator Ahmed Badaoui said the Union threatened Sidi Said’ opponents of freezing their activity. “We were prevented from entering the People’s House. We will not give up our endeavor to apply the law.”
