Slovenia has skilful goal keeper and great striker, says Russian journalist

Mayak radio’s journalist Nikolay said he was impressed by Algeria’s national team especially in its African match against Côte d’Ivoire. “The Algerian team is very strong and they enjoy team spirit and love for victory,” he told Echorouk.

• Asked about Russia’s elimination in a play off against Slovenia, Nikolay said the Russian team was dominating and Slovenia won to qualify to the World Cup. “Playing good does not always mean victory. Slovenia was lucky in that match.”

• The Russian journalist said Slovenia’s team are hard, like surprises and exploit small details in their favour. “Their strong point is the skilful goal keeper Handanovic who helped a lot his country to qualify to the World Cup. Bochum’s Novakovic is also a strong point.”

• Speaking about the Algerian team, he said Karim Ziani and Nadir Belhadj can make Algeria win the match. “Saadane can also do that as he is one of the most important coached in the World Cup. If he knows how to make his elements play their role, the Algerian team will make wonderful results.”

• Nikolay talked about the World Cup 1986 held in Mexico. “Algeria has produced honest and fascinating football since the 1980’s. I remembered the first time I saw the team in the World Cup 1968 where I enjoyed Rabeh Madjer’s way of playing.”
