Sonatrach group announced on Sunday that following after the decline in 2010, the Algerian production of hydrocarbons will increase in 2018 to $ 225 million.
APS quoted a source from Sonatrach as saying that SONATRACH is expected to increase the production of hydrocarbons from $195 million in 2013 to $ 228 m until 2018.
This goal was set in the context of the development plan for the medium term (2014-2018), for which SONATRACH allocated $102 billion of investments, 60% for exploration and production of hydrocarbons.
SONATRACH total production of hydrocarbons reached $232 million in 2008 before falling back to $214 million compared in 2010 and $2058 million in 2011 and then $1945 million in 2012.
Same source that the production of Hassi Messaoud will remain the largest oil field in the country with 400,000 barrels per day, thanks to the projects that were prepared to push production, and to improve the productivity of Hassi Messaoud, which provides the country with one-third of the total oil production, as a project was created for the renewal of the collection network.
SONATRACH forecasts show that the last project of retrieval is currently in pilot phase and will allow the improvement of the level of recovery of crude oil by 5%, as the oil group was criticized for not investing in retrieval projects in Hassi Messaoud.
Director-General of the complex Abdelhamid Zerguine rejected this criticism when he said on June 25 that SONATRACH is working to improve the production in this large field without causing a stir.
With respect to gas production, SONATRACH is expected to reach additional retrieval by 400 billion cubic meters of gas in Hassi R’mel, thanks to the projects of gas pressure that will increase energy of this huge field, which came into production in 1956.
SONATRACH is expected, according to the same source, to enter the field of Tinehrat (Illizi) for exploitation where 14 million cubic meters of gas will be produced in 2016, and production will move to 24 million cubic meters per day in 2017, as two other fields which are Hassi Bahmou and Hassi Menaa will produce 21 million cubic meters per day starting from 2017.
SONATRACH plans to launch Touat project (12 million cubic meters per day) with French partner GDF (Gaz de France) in Adrar and another project with Total in Timimoune, with a capacity of 5 million cubic meters per day.
Reggane project, which will be developed with three partners (Spain, Germany and Italy) would start production in 2017.
Algeria produced 6 898 billion cubic meters of oil between 1964 and 2013, and 9303 bcm of natural gas and oil, 2165 of crude oil, 577 of condensate gas, 225 million of liquefied petroleum gas.
But recoverable precautions did not change, but recorded an increase of 5%, moving to 4.4 billion compared to oil in 2014, and 4.2 bcm in 2010, thanks to the efforts that were made by SONATRACH to keep the fields’ production, however, reserves remain most important, as Algeria recorded a recovery rate of 30% in the field of petroleum and 70% with respect to gas.
