Sonatrach cancels oil contract with Bonatti, 90 workers lost their jobs
Algerian Sonatrach formally canceled a contact with the Italian oil company Bonatti in the region of Bir Rabaa, in the field of conducting production in oil wells, following the strike of 90 workers causing a significant interruption of production since Friday.
An official source from Bonatti Algeria told Echorouk here on Monday that Sonatach decided to terminate the contract after 90 workers launched a strike demanding higher wages and some grants and privileges, adding that the reason of this cancellation is due to Sonatrach’s refusal to accept the interruption of oil production in these wells which are supposed to produce oil constantly even in case of a strike, asserting that this is oil production not water.
Bonatti’s official explains that the workers did not adhere to the principle of ensuring a minimum of services, in addition to the fact that the protests were not noticed, adding that the company will fire 90 workers out of 350 from Bir Rebba north, after Sonatrach will cancel the contract with Bonatti, asserting that the Italian company is still providing residence and services until their deportation to their homes, therefore losing their jobs.
