Sonatrach is set to achieve the biggest LPG complex in the world

Sonatrach is implementing its growth strategy by leaps and bounds. The Algerian hydrocarbons’ company has signed with the Japanese consortium IHI/ITOCHU a major contract aimed at boosting the LPG exports.

Under the contract (Engineering Procurement and Construction –EPC-) the Japanese consortium is entrusted with achieving three new separation trains of LPG of  a capacity of one million tons each per year and two low temperature storing vats of 70.000 cubic meters each.
These trains will be integrated into the complex GP1Z complex of Arzew, in western Algeria.
With the acquisition of these 3 new units, the complex will become the biggest in the whole world, according to Mr Feghouli, the vice-chairman of downstream activities at Sonatrach.
This mega project, worth 1.09 billion dollars, will be entirely financed by Sonatrach.
