Sonatrach new scandal soon before court

Security forces ended an investigation into Sonatrach International Holding Corporation company based in El Biar in Algiers, 20 days ago, Echorouk has learnt.

  Judicial prosecutions will touch a number of executives and prominent personalities in relation with Sonatrach, a judicial source told Echorouk.

  The investigation was about violations in dealing with projects abroad such as gas marketing and the activity of Sonatrach’s branches in foreign countries. The case is expected to be introduced into jurisdictions.

  Algeria’s former energy minister Chakib Khelil may be summoned by an examining judge to hear him.

  The General Inspection of Finance in Algeria submitted a file to the government concerning a Sonatrach’s branch abroad. Specialised groups accomplished special missions in five countries where Sonatrach is operating through special branches. The final report includes remarks about branches work and signed contracts.

  International Holding Corporation company was founded in July 1999. It started its work in partnership with international groups in a number of countries.

  Sonatrach’s first scandal is still under investigation. Accusation chamber at a court in Algiers reject a request to release arrest suspects including sons of Sonatrach’s former CEO Mohamed Meziane who is also prosecuted in the case.
