Minister of Superior Education and Scientific Research, Mohamed Mebarki, announced that the creation of private universities was approved officially in Algeria, as the first book of conditions about opening a private institution in superior education was considered.

He refuted the rumors about the refusal of the ministry’s demands that were presented about this matter.

In his interview with APS, Mebarki said that his ministry did not receive any request to open a private university and this in the framework of deciding to open the superior education sector before private owners.

“First process of withdrawing the book of conditions was registered only since a month. Our ministry is currently working to identify the legal framework for private universities, and this through crating a committee that studies and opens files that will be presented to our ministry”.

“Private universities files was discussed during the last tripartite meeting, as it is considered among the most important concerns that were discussed by employers. Our ministry does not see any obstacle in opening private institutes, as this should respect the book of conditions that was prepared for that goal and without violating law in force”.
