Spiteful Moroccan lobbies file lawsuit to take revenge against Echorouk's fact-finding reports
The so-called “Moroccan association of the Sahara” has filed a lawsuit against Algerian writer and journalist, Anouar Malek, in a revengeful move in the aftermath of the recent publication by Echorouk of a series of fact-finding reports Anouar Malek drafted for our newspaper recently after a most eventful visit to the occupied Sahraoui town of Dakhla where he was informed at length by the Sahraoui population there about their unbearable life under Moroccan occupation.

In the light of these latest developments, several hapless victims of the Moroccan repressive machine in Morocco have voiced through some media outlets their distress at their marginalization and oppression on the part of the Moroccan security services which do not tolerate any dissent or opposition to the Rabat regime.

A telling case in point is a Moroccan father of 4 children who has a Belgian nationality and who is living in Belgium. This name is Hamouda Amine Mohamed. According to his own testimony, he has been the victim of a harsh campaign of repression and injustice against his four children who are forcibly held in Morocco after he wrote an online article denouncing the dismal human rights situation in the Moroccan kingdom.

These revelations brought by this disillusioned Moroccan citizen from Belgium about the countless and glaring human rights’ violations in Morocco touched off the ire of the Makhzen which launched “a behind the scenes” campaign of repression against his 4 children in Morocco by banning them from leaving the country to join their father Hamouda Amine Mohamed now living in exile in Belgium.

His hapless children have been the target over the past few years of a campaign of oppression and intimidation spearheaded by the Moroccan security services who want to make them, even if they are innocent, pay the price for the outstanding revelations brought by their exiled father about the vile and blameworthy practices and methods of the Moroccan regime as regards human rights in the kingdom.

Hamouda’s children have been left in the lurch and have seen all their bona- fide requests to leave Morocco in order to join their exiled father in Belgium rejected forthwith with no consideration.

-
Even their heart-rending appeals to local human rights organization and the local press for help and commiseration have been stifled owing to the “embargo” imposed on them unjustly and callously by the Moroccan security services at the behest of the Makhzen.
