State agricultural lands: 107,000 applications submitted by farmers

ALGIERS- Nearly 107,000 applications for right of enjoyment of State-owned agricultural lands have been submitted up till now by the farmers, announced Sunday here Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Rachid Benaissa.

Out of the 218,000 farmers falling under the provisions of the law on the right of use and enjoyment of State-owned agricultural lands, 107,000 have submitted their applications to the National Office of Agricultural Lands (ONTA), the minister said.

The ONTA will sign with farmers the terms and conditions of the exploitation of lands through 40-year concession shortly, Benaissa announced on the sidelines of a quarterly assessment meeting of performance agreements of his sector.
