Strike paralyzes Arcelor Mittal in Algeria
Arcelor Mittal’s workers Saturday paralyzed all the productive units in the province of Annaba (east of Algiers) in a protest against the company for not satisfying their demands of pay raise.
- The company’s General Director warned over suspending 5,300 workers.
- The workers’ union said the general department is keeping silent and the administration did not keep its promise which goes back to a year.
- According to a release, the investment issue remains the main preoccupations of the union. The 2010-2014 investment plan set by the administration were not concretised. Because of that, the union asked the department to move and started implementing the investment program during 5 years.
