Students close a University doors east of Algeria

A group of students from the Institute of Prevention and Industrial Security closed the University of El Hadj Lakhdar in Batna, east of Algeria, since the early hours of Sunday morning using iron chains and locks in an attempt to pressure government to find a final solution concerning the certificate of state engineers following the protests by engineering students last week.

Workers and officials of the university were prevented from entering the university and practice their usual activity and students were unable to study.

Sunday’s protests noticed a serious escalation after the movement of strikes that emerged among students wishing to study and pass the final exams, as a group of angry students tried to break into the closed doors and break locks of the main gate using an ax brought by a student who took his two “Pit bulls” to open the door for students.

A group of protesters intervened and prevented students wishing to study, while another group condemned the use of pit bulls in university.

In order to avoid any possible injuries among students, security services intervened to stop violence.
