Sudan airlift causes 22 billion centimes to Air Algerie

Algerian security forces opened an investigation in money stealing and embezzlement from national airliner Air Algerie on an airlift ahead of a play off against Egypt in Sudan.

According to official documents, incomes from selling 32 civil and 20 military trips to the Sudanese capital Khartoum were stolen.

Tickets were sold at 20,000 DZ each without issuing real tickets from commercial departments. It is difficult to justify those incomes in terms of accountancy with Air Algerie’s commercial departments. Procedures mistakes were noted when tickets were sold. Huge sums were illegally taken.

The same documents show that the scandal was discovered after some persons had given 720 million centimes to Air Algerie’s commercial departments. Yet, they refused to receive the money without legal accountancy documents. That enabled to discover that the money was stolen under a non real sale operation of the company’s tickets. Money was collected in cartoon boxes and rubbish bags.

A few days after the operation, a man tried to pay 720 million centimes. Specialised departments required legal accountancy documents.

The same source also showed that Air Algerie lost about 22 billion centimes.
