Teachers prevented from giving supplementary courses
Algerian education minister Abdelatif Baba Ahmed Tuesday announced that a circular will be transmitted to education higher authorities to forbid teachers to give payable support courses.
“The circular is in my hands and I will send it today [Wednesday] to education higher authorities,” the minister told Echorouk.
The circular comes as parents complained of teachers for not giving courses and asking pupils to take payable supplementary courses. This phenomenon touched all the schools levels including high schools where baccalaureate candidates leave their classrooms to take supplementary courses.
Speaking about a recent strike among high school teachers, Baba Ahmed said a special program was set to catch up missed courses as pupils will have courses in weekends and the first week of winter.
Members of Parliament Tuesday discussed finance draft law 2014. They asked for reinforcing education sector budget and easing transport for teachers to cover deficit in southern provinces.
