Terrorism: A terrorist attack targeted barracks of security services east of Algiers

Barracks of a mobile brigade of the judicial Police (BMPJ) in Tigzirt, 40 km north of Tizi Ouzou, east of Algiers, has been targeted by a terrorist attack here on Wednesday, an Algerian website reported. 

• The terrorist attack, which occurred around 7 am, began with a series of explosions caused by mortar fire and homemade bombs placed near the barracks, the same website said.

• A violent clash followed the blasts and security forces were dispatched to the scene of the attack. Neither deaths nor injuries were announced.

• This is not the first time that the barracks is targeted by a terrorist attack. On March, at least three mortars hit the barracks leaving injuries among the policemen.

• This latest attack comes as the Algerian armed forces conduct in the past few days an offensive combing operation against terrorist in Kabylia regions.

• At least ten terrorist were eliminated last week in Tizi Ouzou, east of Algeria and large quantities of arms and ammunition were retrieved by the same forces.
