Terrorism: Files of Droukdel, Al Para fellows, Tibhirine Monks postponed

Criminal session at Algiers criminal court was concluded on last Thursday, while most of the files that are related to terrorism, and which punishment reached death penalty remain stuck after being postponed due to the absence of defence.

Among the most important terrorism-related cases that have been postponed to the next session is, according to APS on Mondy, there is a case in which two leaders of a terrorist group that was active under the command of Ammari Saifi, who is also called “Abderazzaq El Para”, and who are suspected of being involved in participating in the kidnapping of foreign tourists in 2003, which was postponed due tothe absence defence of an accused, as it noticed previously several postponements since its programming in 2012, and this is theinsistence of defence to bring the main suspect Abderazzaq El Para, a demand which has not been responded by the Criminal Court. 

Among the most important issues of terrorism, which was postponed during the criminal cession which was concluded on July 10,highlighted the case of fellows and family members of the terrorist Abdel-Hamid Abu Zaid followers, who are followed with the charge of belonging to a terrorist group that has been working since the nineties to support terrorist groups that are active in the Algerian Sahara led by El Para and Mokhtar Belmokhtar and Abdelhamid Abou Zeid, who are specialized in the abductions of foreign tourists and drug trafficking and smuggling, as well as the case od the leader in the terrorist organization “GIA”, who is implicated in terrorist operations and several massacres, abductions and the use of torture during the black decade, as well as the postponement of the case of AbdelmalekDroudkel, who is follwed together with 43 terrorists for their involvement in several mass killings and assassinations that targeted since 1998, members of the security services, and the case of 20 suspected terrorist, led by Abdelmalek Droukdel and who are charged withhomicides among civilians and military personnel, and crimes of kidnappings for ransom. 

Among the most important cases, which raised a lot of questions, as public opinion waited for a decision like those related to the file of Tibhirine monks, in which the accused “Kchenti Redouane” is implicated in the terrorist attacks that aim to disseminate the killings, which was heard by a French investigation judge, due to possession of important information about the killing of Tibhirine monk, then the case was postponed to the next session due to the absence of his defence, while the case of the return of Guantánamo prisoner BelbachaAhmed, who was previously sentenced in absentia for twenty years in prison in 2009 was postponed.
