A terrorist group planted, minutes before Saturday evening, a roadside bomb on the outskirts of the municipality of Sidi Choaib, southern Sidi Bel Abbes.
Four municipality guards and three soldiers perished after its explosion.
Statement that was issued by the National Defense Ministry said: “A group of municipality guards and ANP soldiers, were subject to a roadside bomb explosion on Saturday night, at seven and forty-five minutes in Sidi Bel Abbes (the Second Military region) , western Algeria, in the area named Ain Aisha, that is located on the outskirts of the municipality of Sidi Choaib, in the far south of Sidi Bel Abbes, as three soldiers and four municipal guards guards died in the blast. “
“Immediately after the blast the area was cordoned off the area and the combing operation was launched by armed troops”.
Same statement added; “This criminal attack will increase the National People’s Army determination to hunt down the remnants of terrorist groups to eliminate them and cleanse the land of Algeria from their disgrace.”
According to information, that was obtained by Echorouk, the victims were on their way to the check point that is located in the region, in order to provide their colleagues with Iftar meals, as two municipality guards who were killed during the terrorist attack are originated from Ouadi Taourira, and are from the same family, while the third victim is originated from the municipality of Sidi Ali Ben Youb.
Grief and sorrow has overshadowed all the citizens of the region, after the occurrence of this criminal operation, which is the deadliest terrorist attack in the South of Sidi Bel Abbes, which is characterized by forests and difficult terrain, which makes of it a transit area for the remnants of terrorist groups, which were behind another criminal operation since nearly two months, killing a shrine guardian, as a roadside bomb was planted inside the box that was put in the shrine, then it exploded transforming his body into pieces.
