That’s How The “Telegraph” Made Algerian Youth Fall Into Trap Of “Daesh”
Two young men, one of whom is a student at the University of Bab Ezzouar, east of Algiers, have been charged with the crime of attempting to join a terrorist group operating abroad by exploiting the information and communication technology after being uncovered by the security services specialized in the fight against terrorism.
The investigation resulted in the arrest of the accused who were found in possession of cell phones and an electronic media with pictures and dubious applications, used by terrorist groups bent on recruiting and promoting their criminal beliefs over a digital application called the “Telegraph”.
This case was unveiled by the Bouchaoui Cybercrime Center of the National Gendarmerie and revealed that there were two known names in the terrorist organization “Daesh”, such as “Abu Para” who was activating the phone numbers of the defendants to get their identities for their eventual recruitment.

During the hearing of the Court of Justice of the suburban eastern district of Dar El Beida on Wednesday, B. M confirmed that his specialty in the media was to open the door to discovering the latest technologies and mobile phone applications related to the social networking sites.
He also argued that he had a keen desire to identify the secrets and backgrounds of the so-called “Telegraph” on the Net, which he developed after its use by terrorist groups, but this became closely monitored by the international security services, pointing out that he withdrew from the decision to engage with “Daesh” after hearing fatwas of Saudi religious scholars regarding the firm prohibition of being involved in terrorist acts.
The General Prosecutor required a seven year imprisonment sentence against the defendants, before they were finally acquitted during the ensuing legal proceedings.
