The Council of Nation hinders laws, says Soltani
Abu Djerra Soltani, the MSP's leader
Leader of the Movement for the Society of Peace (MSP) Abu Djerra Soltani expects that a constitutional amendment would be done through a popular referendum and not Parliament.
- Soltani believes that the amendment will be accepted by people as Algerian President Bouteflika had said people are free to change the Constitution.
- He criticised the Council of the Nation, describing it as the hindering council as it was created to hinder laws suggested by Islamic parties.
- Speaking about Algerian trade minister Mustapha Benbada’s criticism of him, the MSP’s leader said the minister presented a written apology. “In our turn, we expected his apology.”
- Asked about the relationship between his party and the opposition, Soltani said he is for dialogue.
- “The party has old and respected relationship with the Rally for Democracy and Culture (RCD) and the Socialist Forces Front (FFS),” he added.
