The Desert Foxes lost in Marrakech
Ziani did not find the way to the Atlas Lions' net

Irrelevant and forgettable game. Algeria national squad could not resist to Morocco squad and returned home with a 4-0 defeat last night in Marrakech Stadium, throwing away a big deal of their chances to qualify to CAN 2012.

Although a slight domination during the first quarter of the game, the Greens could not shake the net and transform the occasions created by Ziani and Mesbah into goals.

However, the Atlas Lions have managed getting back the attack initiative, which permitted them opening the score on behalf of defender Ben Atia (21’). Ten minutes later Arsenal ace Chamakh made it 2-0 for Morocco, after managing breaking the off side line, and then put the ball on the left side of goalkeeper Mbolhi.

In the second half, coach Benchikha made some changes in his squad, as Boudebouz and Matmour came in to boost the offensive line, taking the place of Kadir and Yebda.

Yet, the Atlas Lions consolidated their supremacy on the pitch, as Ziani mates looked “lost” and “unrecognizable.”  Belgian coach Eric Guerets has scrolled down the game thanks to a perfect tactic, well implemented by his men on the pitch. Two counter attacks permitted the Atlas Lions making it 4-0, thanks to Youcef Hadji (61’) and Assaidi (67’).

Morocco leads the Group 4 with 7 points, leaving Algeria with 4 points. To recall, the two other teams of this group, namely Tanzania and Central Africa will clash this evening in Dar Es Salam.
