The teacher’s murderer arrested

Investigators have managed arresting the killer of university teacher, Ghettas Aicha, who was found murdered in her flat in Mohamadia suburb, eastern Algiers, on Wednesday.

Investigators have managed arresting the killer of university teacher, Ghettas Aicha, who was found murdered in her flat in Mohamadia suburb, eastern Algiers, on Wednesday.

The defendant is a youngster living in the same neighbourhood of the victim. He used to help the teacher doing some home works commission, like shopping, the neighbours told Echorouk. 

They said the crime was prompted by stealing, for the victim surprised the defendant inside her flat on Wednesday, and likely was stealing her jewelries and money, before murdering her and running away. 

The neighibours also mentioned that the defendant is a drug addict with prior criminal records. 

The teacher is highly respected and appreciated both in her neighbourhood and at university.

A security source said investigators are working on figuring out the circumstances of this crime, and are taking into consideration every probability, including that of “political motives,” given that the late Ghettas used to be a member of the opposition National Coordination for Change and Democracy, which held previously several rallies in Algiers to call for political reforms.
