These are the files deemed as imperative for Donald Trump in dealing with Algeria

It seems that the working program of the newly-elected US President Donald J. Trump doesn’t for the time being allow him to visualize exactly the location of Algeria in his foreign policy, but he can draw inspiration from the advertised positions during the election campaign about the Arab region, as well as from the stand on the matter of the Republican Party under the banner of which he ran in the 8TH November 2016 US electoral contest.

In a rather similar approach, the successor of Barack Hussein Obama, regarding the Arab region, with on focus the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Donald Trump in his election campaign highlighted such a position, which seems consistent with that of his predecessors at the White House and it is embodied by  a full and open bias in favor of the Zionist entity, by confirming the all-out US support for Tel Aviv and pledging to defend it by force in the event of an “aggression” from Arab countries while harboring a different approach compared to the US Presidents who preceded him, concerning the future US relationship with the Gulf states led by Saudi Arabia.

Though Donald Trump’s slogan during the election campaign was “America First”, this does not imply that he will adopt an isolationist and a retreating policy, as happened decades ago, but Washington will continue to reign in its foreign policy based on duly protecting US vital interests in any region of the world, including the North African region and the Sahel, two regions which have been taking a significant share in the US global strategy in recent years.

A host of political observers agree to say that the United States of America has become over more than a decade now, an important partner of Algeria in the field of energy, and has also turned into a strategic partner in the fight against the terrorism scourge, adding that these two major files drew the attention of US officials given their strategic scope and prompted them to foster a close cooperation drive with the Algerian side.

Among the files that will form the points of convergence of US foreign policy with their counterparts of Algeria in the maintaining of the status quo, notably concerning their attitude towards the crisis in Libya which must be solved through an inter-Libyan dialogue under the auspices of the United Nations excluding any damaging foreign military intervention.

They added that the Algerian-American rapprochement concerning North Africa issues and the Sahel stems from the keenness of Washington to maintain its vested interests in these regions and in West Africa as well (where the Nigerian oil as well as the gold and uranium in Niger and Mali are located), and this aim requires the existence of an environment free of tensions and trouble, thus allowing the Americans to take advantage of these natural resources quietly.
