Thousands of teachers plan to resign in Algeria
Thousands of teachers are planning to resign due to pressures in classrooms and administration. Some of them want to be in « early retirement », saying they can’t give the best to their pupils anymore.
« A study conducted by the CNAPSET showed that thousands of teachers who had worked for more than 15 years plan to be in retirement due to bad conditions including psychological pressures, » said national secretary in charge of information and communication at the National Independent Council of Education Personnel Messaoud Boudiba.
« Teachers in primary schools have to accomplish many missions. They have to give lessons, keep watch on pupils in schoolyards and accompany them to toilets. Classrooms have become crowded and programs are intensive, » he told Echorouk.
He added that some teachers wait to reach the age of 50 to be in « early retirement » as they don’t have the strengh and will to pursue their work anymore.
