To play or leave Lazio, says Meghni

Algeria ace Mourad Meghni said on Wednesday he wants to get more playing time with Lazio, after totally recovering from a year long injury.

“I want to play more frequently with Lazio, I think I’ve completely recovered from injury, and for now I want to have my chance to play some games with my club,” Meghni has been quoted as saying by local press.

Meghni resumed training with Lazio on last February after suffering for long time from patellar tendon injury, which unabled him to play any official game with his club. He had made only some apparitions with reserve team of Lazio, so far.

Yet, some reports linked Meghni to join newly promoted club to Qatar Stars League, al-Jaish. Meghni said he is committed to stay with Lazio until the end of his contract term, in the summer of 2012. “If this situation lasted until the end of the season, I’d prefer leaving the club and look for new challenges,” he stressed.

However, the Italian manager of Lazio, Edoardo Reja hailed the Algeria midfielder.

 “Meghni is a talented player; he enjoys interesting technical qualities.

“He is a player who enjoys a good vision on the pitch and who doesn’t hesitate to shot to the net. In a word, he is a complete midfielder,” Reja said.

To recall, Meghni’s latest game with Algeria squad goes back to 24 January 2010, on the occasion of African Nations Cup (CAN) in Angola, when he contributed to the qualification of the Greens to the semi finals while beating Ivory Coast (3-2).
