Most of the travel agencies in Algeria announced the depletion of bookings for summer vacation for the month of August in the last days of Ramadan, as there are no vacant places for those wishing to spend their vacation outside Algeria, to top all of Turkey and Morocco, and even Tunisia, despite the security conditions, a list of favorite countries for Algerians to spend the summer vacation.
In this context, Elias Senoussi, Vice President of the National Union of Travel Agencies told Echorouk that bookings about spending a summer vacation for the month of August were all sold out, and all the places were sold since a few days ago, especially as this year’s summer vacation is very short, as only the month of August is left, after July coincided with Ramadan, and June with exams of the end of the year, as tourist agencies have stepped up their seductive offerings during the month of Ramadan, and received a high turnout by Algerians because of the quality of services and competitive prices.
Snoussi said that Turkey still sits on the throne of the favorite destinations for the Algerians for more than a year, and this due to the wealth of this state of tourist potential, despite what is promoted from distinctive beaches and amazing places, while Tunisia came in the second place, as it is still the preferred destination for the Algerians, despite the unstable security situation.
“Reservations towards Tunisia in the month of August are filled to the ground, both in the city of Hammamet or Sousse, and all this in view of what these cities offer from high level tourist services and attractive prices, and services for the comfort and well-being of children in three to four stars hotels.”
“Morocco has become a magnet for many Algerian families, despite the high temperature in the summer there, because the quality of tourist vehicles and hotels and good reception in Morocco are the temptations that able to bring attention to the Algerians, who became reluctant to domestic tourism and abandoned it to the neighboring countries and other distant.
In this context, the same spokesman considered that the domestic tourism in Algeria, despite the natural wealth still suffers from a lack of basic summer structures, as well as the prohibitively high prices that makes Algerians prefer other destinations, like Turkey, Tunisia and even Morocco, where any Algerian can spend 10 days in Turkey for 10 million centimes, in a four star hotel, while the same sum is not enough to spend two or three days in Oran or Bejaia because of the high prices and poor services.
