Transport:Strike of ETUSA company workers paralyzed Algiers
Urban and Semi-urban Transport Company “ETUSA” continues its second week of strike in Algiers as about 600 workers stopped working to protest against the lack of dialogue and ignoring the demands that were raised by the workers who insisted on their position, up to responding to them, and opening the doors dialogue, calling upon the Transport Minister to discuss with them about their concerns, in turn traffic remains paralyzed in Algiers during the period in question, transferred the daily movements of citizens to impossible mission, and transport was replaced by some private drivers to cover the shortfall, which resulted in losses that exceed 300 million centimes that are incurred by the company every day.
The strike, which caused an imbalance in the traffic in the capital, affected negatively on the movement of people, especially those who have to go to their works.
Some citizens said that the problem that caused daily problems for more than 8 days, will oblige them to assume the costs and additional problems while workers are still striking and insist on continuing the strike until the response to the demand of raising wages, paying the retroactive wages since 2008 with the need to open dialogue that remain blocked since a long time, creating an imbalance between workers and administration.
In a related context, Karim Yacine, Director of the company ETUSA, said during his participation as a guest on Bahdja Radio on Monday, that the workers’ salaries have been spent at the time, pointing out that buses will return to work on Tuesday, through the use of public force under license by the capital’s Governor.
