Tunisia embassador to Algeria: “Taxation on foreigners just a proposal that will not be applied this year”
Proposal that was issued in the Finance Act 2014, and that is related to paying a financial fine in the framework of lifting the tax on foreigners card from 15 to 100 Tunisian dinars, will not be applied this year, Tunisia embassador to Algeria, Abdelmadjid Ferchichi, told Echorouk.
“This is only a proposal that was not approved yet by the constitutional council. Even if it will be applied this will be realized in 2015”.
Diplomatic sources from Tunisia told Echorouk that the constitutional council and Tunisian authorities found it difficult to make an exception for Algerian and Libyan tourists from the list of visitors on which the tax will be applied, considering that the relationships with the two countries should not be affected due to this fine.
“Some parties try to defend Algerian and Libyan visitors while others there are fears of criticism by other markets due to favoritism, especially the French markets that are on top of the list of the tourists number.
