Unauthorised march of RCD in Algiers: 19 injured, 9 arrested then released

ALGIERS- Nienteen persons (8 policemen, including 2 in seruious case, and 11 dermonstrators and passers-by) have been injured and 9 others arrested during a rally Saturday of militants of the Rally for Culture and Democracy party (RCD) in front of the party headquarters, Interior Minisry said in a release.

The nine (9) persons arrested Saturday during evacuation of the highway after the attempted and unauthorized march initiated by the Rally for Culture and Democracy (RCD) were released by police, said the Ministry of Interior and Local Government.

“Ignoring the ban of the march called for by the political party, the RCD, notified on 12 January 2011 and repeated on January 20, about 250 people came together Saturday at 10:00 am at the party headquarters based in Didouche Mourad street” in the center of Algiers, said the source.
