Unauthorised march prevented in Algeria
Algerian security forces prevented an unauthorised march organised by the Algerian Coordination for Change and Democracy’s on Saturday morning in the Place du 1er mai in Algiers.
- Previously, the Coordination said the number of protesters would be exceptional while there were no more than 40 persons. Leader of the Rally for Culture and Democracy (RCD) Said Saadi joined the march at around 10:30 am along with 19 members of the RCD.
- This is the fifth march organised by the Coordination. The first comes back to February 12th. They were all prevented by security forces.
- The demonstrators called for changing the political system in Algiers. Policemen broke them up after 30 minutes without causing any casualties.

Authorities in Algiers do not authorise marches in the capital. Protesters can gather in rooms to hold their demonstrations.
