UNICEF Algeria Calls Upon Civil Society To Show More Participation In Protecting Kids

UNICEF Algeria representative, Marc Lucet, called upon the civil society to show more efforts for the good protection of kids in need of care, and described the relationship of UNICEF with the Algerian government as “good” and characterized by cooperation and transparency, revealing on a program that targets Algerian kids that will extend to 2026.

UNICEF representative said, in a press conference at Algiers Frantz Fanon Hall, on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the UNICEF ; “Algerian civil society should participate more in favor of the rights of children, especially in the areas of health and education, in consultation and cooperation with the public authorities”.

“Positive projects were realized by representatives of civil society across different regions of the country, including those that were embodied by kids organizations and associations”.

In his assessment of the UNICEF activity in Algeria, which began immediately after independence, Lucet expressed his satisfaction of the progress that is made in the education and health sectors, noting that “UNICEF is working with the Algerian government to achieve its priority”, and expressed his admiration for the initiative of the Ministry of National Solidarity, Family and Women’s Issues, for the inauguration of regional cells across the country to count the needy families.

“UNICEF provides assistance to the children of the Sahrawi refugees in the Tindouf camps (southern Algeria), that has allowed them to resume classes on September 6 after the floods that occurred in these camps last month”.

70 Years For Each Kid is UNICEF’s slogan to commemorate the day of creating the organization, which means that the work of the organization aims to provide assistance for all the kids, without any discrimination, whatever its nature is.
