University worldwide rankings are based on unscientific criteria

The National Union of University Teachers called for alternative measures to fight plagiarism. They suggest to find prevention treatment and raise awareness about serious repercussions of this phenomenon.

The Union showed dissatisfaction about the term “scientific stealing,” saying it should be “revised as it embodies inappropriate connotations for students and teachers.”

It added that teachers and university researchers are victim of those wrongdoings.

“Because of that, there is a need to think about better measures to protect authors’ rights and ensure data security,” said the Union.

Speaking about Algerian university ranking worldwide, the Union said there is a real progress compared to previous years.

“Those rankings are based on unscientific criteria,” it added.
