After the “disappearance” of 15 billion DZD of Zakat funds that were allocated by the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Endowments in 2010 to support the Gaza Strip, which has stirred up large media controversy, and a scandal after the denial of the Palestinian Religious Ministry to receive these funds, as the Algerian Religious Ministry is facing a new problem that is related to the unknown faith of 17 billion DZD, which worshippers in 2012 donated in Algiers mosques, at the request of the Ministry of Ghulamellah, in order to renovate 17 mosques in Gaza, as the ministry has allocated a bank account to collect these funds under the supervision of imams and mosques’ committees.

After two years of this process, mystery remains in the fate of these funds, as the National Council of Independent Imams and Muslim Scholars Association ask the authorities to investigate in the fate of the billions that did not reach the Gaza Strip, while the Algerian Red Crescent said it did not receive these donations, and even the ministry refused to comment on this subject in the absence of the official spokesperson of the sector, making the ministry workers evade answering any questions.
In this context, the leader of the Association of Muslim Scholars, Yahia Sari, told Echorouk that the Ministry of Awqaf in Gaza have denied receiving 15 billion DZD of Algerian Zakat funds funds that were allocated to support the Gaza Strip, while many sources confirmed in the Gaza Strip that they did not receive any funds from the Algerian Ministry of Religious Affairs, especially with regard to the mosques that are concerned with renovation and that has not received any aid from Algeria.
