Unlimited strike threatens Primary, Secondary and Baccalaureate examinations

Ministry of Education is in a race against time to deter non-affiliated trade unions from holding the unlimited strike scheduled for 25 April, which likely to force the ministry adjourning three national examinations, Primary School, Secondary School (BEF), and the Baccalaureate.

• Ministry of Education is in a race against time to deter non-affiliated trade unions from holding the unlimited strike scheduled for 25 April, which likely to force the ministry adjourning three national examinations, Primary School, Secondary School (BEF), and the Baccalaureate.
• In fact, Minister of Education Aboubakr Benbouzid and the ministry’s central executives have met on Thursday with leaders of both the National Council of Secondary and Technical School (CNAPSET), and the National Union of Education and Training Employees (UNPEF) to discuss the announced strike of 25 April. The meeting discussed also claims of the strike-callers, including the revision of the teachers’ status, the compensation system, housing, retirement and taxes.
• However, the national councils of CNAPSET and UNPEF are to met separately today to assess outcomes of Thursday’s meeting with the Ministry, and then decide whether to maintain or suspend 25 April’s strike.
• Yet, the ministry of Education meets today representatives of four other non-affiliated trade unions, who are also to join the strike.
