US channel CNN covers conference on caricature in Algeria
In a video conference hosted yesterday by the US embassy in Algiers, Iraqi cartoonists have indicated to their Algerian counterparts that media and cartoons should be more critical to the political scene especially in the Arab world.
-
- Abderrehaman Yasser, Ahmed Raoaui and Aymen Dherrari from the University of Baghdad have noted that the fierce competition between the Iraqi politicians that marked the campaign for presidency was largely depicted in the caricatures presented by the Iraqi cartoonist on the occasion of the 100 anniversary of the first caricature in Iraq.
- They added, in this respect, that the main reason behind the flourishing of this art in Iraq is the political chaos that prevails in this country which impeded the formation of a government.
- For his part, the cartoonist of Echourok newspaper Boukhalfa Baki has hinted to the latest cultural event hosted by the Algeria that brought together 50 cartoonists from all over the world and the future project initiated by the Algerian cartoonist to bring back into the surface the cartoons festival.
- It should be noted that the conference, which was attended by two US cartoonists, was covered by the US satellite news channel CNN .
