US company cheats Air Algerie
Attorney General at the court of Algiers sought on Wednesday ten and five years in prison for a former technical manager and a deputy manager of supplies at Air Algérie on charges of illegal deals and money squandering, respectively.
-
The defendants concluded many deals with a representative of a U.S. company who provided Air Algerie with obsolete spare parts estimated at $2 million.

The US Company representative concluded many deals with Air Algerie in 1997-2005 to provide the Algerian airline company with spare parts.
-
The Algerian company ordered new commodities and the US supplier surprisingly provided them with used spare parts.
-
The defendants said the deals they had concluded were legal and seven of the 45 spare parts were obsolete but they were later renewed.

-
The charged technical manager of the Algerian airline company said for his defense “it was unreasonable to endanger the lives of 3 million and a half million passengers per year.”

Asked about any measures they took after knowing about the existence of these obsolete spare parts, the defendants denied the accusations. They told the judge they were not to be held accountable for the charges brought against them.
