According to what was published by the website, a large number of companies and government agencies from different countries were subjected to spying by the US NSA, and Algeria’s Sonatrach was one of the victims, as it was under the eyes of the agency which took advantage of the e-mail addresses and the website to get the data about the company, because it is the most influential company in the Algerian economy, and the most powerful as well.
Security services opened, in the past two years, in-depth investigations on a number of suppliers of electronic devices (especially computers) that supply the various branches of Sonatrach and its automated media department, after obtaining the evidence that highly accurate information is leaked from the computers of the company Sonatrach to foreign companies.
This information helped large oil companies to obtain important transactions, because this information was leaked to the International Energy cards and it included some secret items and figures on the books of terms of international tenders, and estimates of the technical department of Sonatrach group on the production capacity of some oil and gas fields, and the capabilities and potential of regions where oil is explored, which helped some companies obtain the privilege that is not available to every company.
Security experts in Computer Sciences conducted several checks on computers of some branches of Sonatrach, especially in the General Directorate in the Department of Exploitation, and asked for examination of old computers that are out of service in order to access equipment that are installed in some computers, to spy on these devices, and transfer the information that is found out via satellite to foreign companies.
