US tortures Algerian policeman because of poem

« I got two official offers from the White House. I was asked to join the CIA to undergo intensive trainings and go on spying mission to Arab countries. The second offer was to join the US army and work as a translator in Iraq or in an Arab country in return for financial temptations. Yet, I rejected both offers and I was tortured for intellectual extremism and collecting information for Al-Qaeda,” said an Algerian former police officer.

• Amara Abdelmalek have been living in the US since 2009 as he got the Green Card. He was arrested by 8 CIA senior officers in his home in Houston and was put to a Ford land rover.

• Abdelmalek was taken to Westheimer where he had to answer a set of questions on his job and the Algerian police. He was transferred to a prisonin Houston where he was put in a dark and cold cell. He slept directly on ground and got one meal a day. He has been subject to physical and psychological torture for more than two months.

• “I was beaten in my head and all my body. I have medical certificates about that,” he told Echorouk.

• “I was forced to tell about the organisation where I belong. They thought I worked for Al-Qaeda. Then, I was accused of intellectual extremism and being anti-America due to a poem I published on the Internet,” he added.

• Abdelmalek’s poem describes Muslims’ weak situation after they were strong when they carried out jihad for the sake of God and were attached to Islam and the Prophet’s deeds. “I also said that the Security Council was made by wolves which can not be fair.”

• In July, Abdelmalek arrived to the airport of Paris coming from Tunisia. He was supposed to take another airplane to go to Washington but he went to the airport security department and asked for political asylum. He was arrested and put in temporary prison. His request was accepted and he was released. He spent a week in Paris dealing with the necessary procedures for his political asylum request. He got an address, a residence card and other documents. Yet, he realised that France was exploiting his case.

• He will appear in court in Houston and he is expected to have unfair and political trial.

• “I will not come back to my country until I prove to America that Algerians are not terrorists as it is alleged in the West. I will take revenge from those who tortured me because I was Muslim,” he said.

• “France which alleges it is the country of justice, equality and human rights wanted to exploit my case. They want me to accuse the Algerian police of killing and torture instead of fighting the CIA which violated my human dignity,” he added.
