Vaccines kill poultry in Algeria

A large number of poultry were killed in eastern Algeria due to vaccines non stored properly, said national office director of poultry farming Aid Nourredine who warned against contamination in west.

“Vaccines non stored properly has always been a problem in the eastern provinces such as Bordj Bouareridj, Setif, Jijel and Bejaia. Farmers do not respect storing measures,” the director told Echorouk.

“The agriculture ministry should take emergency and strict measures to surround the provinces where the virus appeared from the vaccines,” he added.

Speaking about deadly diseases caused by those vaccines, he said they are related to respiratory and immune system. Chicken which are not vaccinated will be killed.

“Each chicken must be vaccinated for times at least. One missing vaccine will cause serious health catastrophes.”

He added that the vaccines cost 5,000 DZ for 1,000 chickens. “This shows that the vaccines are affordable by every farmer.
